I’m running this marathon to raise money and awareness to help those battling heart disease. Heart disease is the #1 killer among women, and my Mom passed away from cardiomyopathy and congestive heart failure in 2000. My fundraising goal is $3,000 and I will be donating the money to Rockville General Hospital’s Cardiac Rehabilitation Center. The nurses, nutritionists, and other professionals at this program gave my mother five happy years of life that she most certainly wouldn’t have had without them. In addition to keeping her heart healthy, they also provided emotional support, and became her friends. I’m raising money for this cause so other families can have valuable time with their loved ones suffering from heart disease.

The Eastern Connecticut Health Network Foundation is the fundraising arm of the hospital, but as long as the memo says RGH Cardiac Rehabilitation the funds will only be used for that program. The hospital doesn’t have a great website, but you can see some information here: Rockville General Hospital. Rockville Hospital has been awarded Program Certification for their Cardiac Rehabilitation Program by the American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation (AACVPR). Certification recognizes those programs rigorously reviewed by a national board and found to meet the outlined essential requirements for standards of care.
Donations are tax deductible and you will be provided with a receipt from Rockville Hospital once the check is processed. If you are donating through PayPal, you will get a receipt once the transaction goes through that you can use in your taxes.
